Selldorf Architects has designed a major reinstallation of the permanent collection of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The project included a renovation of all aspects of the gallery design including lighting. The reinstallation encompasses all seven of the High’s curatorial departments and is the first comprehensive revision of the gallery spaces since the High’s 2005 expansion.

We are pleased to announce that Annabelle will be teaching an Option Studio at the Harvard Graduate School of Design for the Fall 2018 semester.

We are thrilled to announce the official opening of the Swiss Institute, which inaugurated its Selldorf-designed new space with the exhibition READYMADES BELONG TO EVERYONE. Built in 1952 this building on 38 St. Marks Pl in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan was purpose built as a bank. Selldorf Architects did full interior and exterior renovations to accommodate the Swiss Institute and their unique programming.

We are excited to share Selldorf Architect’s design for the expansion and enhancement of the Frick Collection. Honoring the architectural legacy and unique character of the Frick, the plan provides unprecedented access to the original 1914 home of Henry Clay Frick, preserves the intimate visitor experience and beloved galleries for which the Frick is known, and restores the 70th Street Garden.

We are excited to share Annabelle Selldorf’s essay contribution to NewCities with her thoughts on the field of architecture and gender equity. The essay is part of the series “The Future of Women in Cities,” published on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

We are thrilled to be working with the Swiss Institute on designing their new headquarters which will open on June 21 of this year.

The renovated 7,500 sf former bank building in the heart of the East Village offers spaces for exhibitions, projects and public programs, a library, a bookstore, and a public rooftop. The design allows for a more welcoming and flexible spaces to accommodate SI’s innovative and diverse programming.

SI will open with its inaugural exhibition, entitled “Readymades Belong to Everyone,” marking the 3rd edition of SI’s Annual Architecture & Design Series.

Happy to have worked with Stefano Tonchi & Maria Luisa Frisa on ‘Italiana: Italy Through the Lens of Fashion 1971-2001.’ This amazing exhibition traces Italian history through fashion and is on show at the Palazzo Reale di Milano until May 6th.

Selldorf Architects recently completed the construction of David Zwirner Hong Kong in one of the city’s newest towers, H Queen’s. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition “Michaël Borremans: Fire from the Sun” opened to the public on January 27th.

On January 31st, Annabelle Selldorf gave a lecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In it, she discussed the firm’s most recent work, including the expansion and renovation of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; LUMA Arles, a new center for contemporary arts in southern France; and the Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility, the largest facility of its kind in the United States.

We are excited to share that Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles has been awarded the Los Angeles Conservancy’s 2018 Chair’s Award, recognizing its significant role in the preservation of Los Angeles’ unique historic sites.

The late-19^th and early-20^th century former mill and food manufacturing facility was transformed into a contemporary and multi-disciplinary arts center. The design prioritized the preservation of the original buildings’ distinctive industrial character and enhanced its connection to the neighborhood’s artistic and historic context. The project includes galleries, event space, offices, a book shop, restaurant and large courtyard used for a variety of programming. Selldorf Architects acted as the consulting architect for the project, which was led by the LA-based firm Create Space.

We are pleased to announce that Selldorf Architects has been selected to design a major reinstallation of the permanent collection of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The reinstallation will involve all seven of the High’s curatorial departments and will emphasize key concepts across genres and time periods. The project will encompass the original Richard Meier designed Stent Family Wing as well as the 2005 addition by Renzo Piano – the Wieland Pavilion and Anne Cox Chambers Wing. Working with the Museum, Selldorf Architects will develop all aspects of gallery design and space planning, including wall configurations, casework design and fabrication, object placement and mounting, lighting and gallery wayfinding and signage. The work is set to commence in late spring of this year and will be open to the public in the fall.

LUMA Arles, a new contemporary art center in Arles, France, received a 2018 Architecture Merit Award from AIANY! Announced at the annual Center for Architecture Design Awards Jury Symposium, the project repurposes the industrial ruins of a 16-acre rail depot for Fondation LUMA.
