A year after collaborating with Gagosian on the design of Picasso: Mosqueteros in New York City, the gallery re-engaged Selldorf Architects to design this exhibition at their Britannia Street Gallery in London. The exhibition was a complex undertaking requiring a reconfiguration of the space from five to seven rooms to accommodate a diverse range of work from large sculpture to video installation. Additionally, Selldorf created a new reception area, foyer, and cloakroom, as well as designed the vitrines and pedestals which display sculptures and objects.

On several occasions Selldorf Architects has designed exhibitions for Gagosian. The firm completed eight exhibitions in New York, London and Rome including three exhibitions of works by Pablo Picasso, as well as exhibitions on Claude Monet, Robert Rauschenberg, Francesco Vezzoli, Lucio Fontana, and Francis Bacon. For each show Selldorf was tasked with creating a layout and lighting design appropriate for the specific artist’s work, which also responded to significant differences in scale, medium, and natural and artificial light requirements.
