Selldorf Architects transformed two floors of an eighteenth century townhouse in Mayfair into Michael Werner Gallery’s first location in London. The building’s listed status required that the historic interiors be preserved with limited modifications.

Renovation of the 2,800 sf space included the restoration and simplification of ornamental paneling, as well as the addition of museum-quality lighting and new floors. The interior was gently reconfigured to create the ideal proportions for the gallery’s domestic-scaled exhibition spaces.
