The Frick Collection Receives Several Major Design Awards
Selldorf Architects, March 12, 2026
The Frick Collection is the recipient of several major design awards which honor the expansion and enhancement project completed last Spring.
The Friends of the Upper East Side is honoring the Frick Collection with a 2026 FRIENDS’ Seamless Heritage Award, noting that the institution was selected in appreciation of its “distinctive and meticulously executed project, a sensitive and respectful enhancement of a treasured cultural landmark.” This independent nonprofit organization is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the architectural legacy, livability, and sense of place of New York City’s Upper East Side.
The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) has designated the Frick as a recipient of its MASterworks Design Award for Best Restoration, honoring the project for thoughtfully enhancing the original qualities of a significant historic building. A ceremony will be held in April to honor all of this year’s MASterworks winners as part of a program that celebrates excellence and expertise across the municipal arts of architecture, landscape architecture, preservation, and public art.
The New York Landmarks Conservancy has selected the Frick to receive a Lucy G. Moses Preservation Project Award, an honoring the project as an outstanding contribution to the preservation of New York City’s architectural legacy.
Finally, The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) will recognize the Frick in May with the 2026 Arthur Ross Award for Stewardship.
We are grateful to the Friends of the Upper East Side, Municipal Arts Society of New York, New York Landmarks Conservancy, and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art for these meaningful recognitions, and to Beyer Blinder Belle, Sciame Construction LLC, and all of our collaborators on this project.
