Design Unveiled for Doha Pavilion: Gerhard Richter
Selldorf Architects, September 14, 2026
Annabelle Selldorf was pleased to be in Berlin with Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa for the announcement of the Doha Pavilion: Gerhard Richter. The new permanent pavilion, designed by Gerhard Richter and realized by Selldorf Architects, will be clad in panels by the artist and will feature three large Strip paintings, a Strip Tower sculpture, and two works from Richter’s Mirror series.
“It is an uncommon honour to assist Gerhard Richter in realising his vision for this project—a major addition to his endlessly probing and fascinating body of work—as well as a privilege to contribute to Doha’s extraordinary ensemble of contemporary architecture. I am grateful to Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa, to Gerhard Richter, and to the entire project team at Qatar Museums,” Annabelle Selldorf remarks.
