Team member: Sara Lopergolo, FAIA, Partner at Selldorf Architects

Sara Lopergolo named Fellow of the American Institute of Architects

Selldorf Architects, February 26, 2020

We are delighted to announce that Partner Sara Lopergolo has been elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. This is an honor awarded to AIA members who have made significant contributions to the architecture profession. The program was developed to elevate those architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.  Only 3 percent of AIA members have this distinction.

Since joining the firm in 1994, Sara has worked on many of the firm’s major projects including large-scale new construction and cultural facilities. She is Partner-in-Charge for the expansion and renovation of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and the expansion and enhancement of the Frick Collection and previously completed the Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility in Brooklyn, the largest of its kind in the United States.  Sara is an active member of the AIA New York’s Women in Architecture Committee and regularly lectures and participates on panels speaking on both design and issues of equity and opportunity in the profession.  She is also currently the Treasurer of the Board of Open House New York and sits on the Advisory Board of Syracuse University School of Architecture.
