Selldorf Architects

This semi-detached townhouse in London’s Richmond district was completely redesigned to create a spacious, light-filled environment for a family of five with an extensive contemporary art collection. The exterior of the house was thoroughly restored, including the installation of a new slate roof and new windows. The formerly dark interior was entirely removed and replaced with a luxurious, roomy sequence of spaces. An oak staircasewith a balustrade made from solid natural brass connects

all four floors in one continuous vertical shaft, surrounded by an elegant steel and glass enclosure. At the garden level, the house was expanded with a sleek extension for an indoor pool and spa, completely lined with custom-colored and glazed lava stone tiles.
