Long Island Residence

East Hampton, New York

The renovation of this 1950s three-bedroom country house included the addition of an art studio that envelops the master suite, living room, and entry area. The two wings of this space were configured with the existing building to create a series of protected outdoor rooms.

While the interior space flows seamlessly between old and new, the exterior articulates the difference, contrasting the existing cedar siding with the new cement-board cladding. (Photos: Billy Cunningham, 1; Manolo Yllera. 2-13)
