Cafe at the Museum of East Asian Art

Cologne, Germany

This museum overlooking a landscaped garden in Cologne was built in the 1970s by Japanese architect Kunio Maekawa, a student of Le Corbusier. Selldorf Architects collaborated with architect Herbert Selldorf

to discreetly refresh and reorganize the museum's café with a suspended glass ceiling and a floating black box that conceals the café's food preparation functions. (Photos: Uli Grohs)
